Our Beliefs

What do we believe?

Virgie Christian Church has no affiliation with any denomination, we seek only to follow the truth in the Scriptures. We believe the Bible itself is the only fully adequate statement of faith. Therefore, we affirm the following, not as a comprehensive list of essential doctrines, but as the foundational truths on which our teaching and ministry are established.
  • The Bible is the completely reliable and authorative word of God (2 Timothy 3:16)
  • The universe and the human race have been intentionally created by God (Genesis 1:1, 26-27)
  • Human beings possess a sinful nature (Romans 7:18) and have separated themselves from God through disobedience, which is sin (Romans 3:23, 6:23)
  • God sent his Son, Jesus, into the world to offer us forgiveness and eternal life (John 3:16)
  • Jesus Christ is the fully devine Son of God, born of a virgin (Colossians 2:8, Luke 1:34, 35)
  • Jesus lived a sinless life (Hebrews 4:15), then died on the cross to atone for human sin (1 Corinthians 15:1-8)
  • Jesus literally arose from the dead (Revelations 1:18)
  • Jesus will return to reward the righteous and punish the wicked (1 Thessalonians 4:13, 18)
  • All people will spend eternity in either Heaven or hell (Matthew 25:31-33)
  • The Holy Spirit, God's presence in the world today, lives within us. (Ephesians 1:13)
How to become a Christian
Salvation is a process. What shall we do?
Believe
Faith is simply believing what you have heard about Jesus; that he is the Son of God, that he died, was buried, and rose from the grave (Mark 16:16)

Repent
Repentance is more than sorrow, it denotes a 180 degree change in a person’s attitude and behavior. It is the process of admitting one’s sin and resolving not to commit them again. (Acts 2:38, Acts 17:30)

Confess
Faith is expressed in obedience. Confession is a public declaration of faith.
(Romans 10:9, Matthew 16:16)

Be Baptized
The New Testament has many references to the necessity of this practice. It is the expression of a sincere faith. (Acts 2:38, Romans 6:3-6, Galatians 3:27, 1 Peter 3:21) Nothing in the Bible indicates that any form of baptism other than adult immersion was used in the church.

Live a Christian Life
Of the four steps mentioned above, only baptism is a once-in-a-lifetime matter. One must continually live by faith in Christ. Faithful Christian living is facilitated by the church, which God established to nurture our spiritual growth.
